Fortnite servers are currently down as Epic Games prepares for the next chapter in the franchise.

The scheduled maintenance for the version 29.00 update is ongoing as of 7 a.m. EST Friday, with 229 reports of Fortnite outages on DownDetector since about 5 a.m.

The upgrade is expected to be completed by 8 a.m. EST.

Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2, titled "Myths & Mortals," will launch once the upgrades are complete.

In this new chapter, Pandora’s Box has been opened on the Fortnite Battle Royale Island, introducing Olympian legends like Hades and Zeus, who now rule the Island with their powers and weapons.

Players can utilize mythological means against these powerful figures.

Fortnite boasted approximately 230 million monthly users between January and February 2024, according to Gameleap.

The game reached its peak in November, with 44.7 million players in a single day, as reported by Fortune.
